SPORTS DAY 1959 : THE START OF THE MILE
SPORTS DAY 1959 : VICTORS AND SPOILS
THE OLD SPORTS PAVILION at SOMERSET AVENUE, HOOK AFTER FIRE in
That’s my old mate Keith Piggott, 3rd from the left.Keith was a very good runner ( and drinker!!) Remember at Raynes Park-probably Surrey championship in the 440, waving to us as he went by-and then lost. Boy was the coach peed-off-can’t remembe who it was, but Keith probably can.
Haven’t made a comment for a couple of years-need to again. Now my life is getting back to normal.
Colin Munday aka “Gaffer”
The start of the mile 59: I arrived that day on my second-hand 50cc Power-Pack powered pedal-pusher to the envy of all my friends. Tee Hee! I can only identify two in the line-up but is that you Hedley standing behind No 2?. I spy Pete Bridle , Mayhew, Jeal, Nick Carter and Keith Bird lurking in the the background. Wonder where they all are today. Cant see me . I think I was fixing a fuel leak on the bike. Pedalled all the way home to Walton.
